BIEDARIEVA, SVITLANA / DEIKUN, HANNA
La artista y curadora Svitlana Biedarieva y la investigadora Hanna Deikun, ambas de origen ucraniano y residentes en México, llevaron a cabo una amplia iniciativa dedicada a visibilizar aquellas manifestaciones artísticas de Ucrania que han tematizado el horizonte de la guerra.
El resultado fue el primer gran programa en América Latina sobre la Ucrania contemporánea. Titulado At The Front Line. Ukranian Art 2013-2019 / La línea del frente. El Arte Ucraniano, 2013-2019, consistió en una exposición, paneles de discusión, performances y la proyección de documentales; tuvo lugar entre el 25 de septiembre de 2019 y el 26 de febrero de 2020 en la Ciudad de México y Winnipeg, Canadá, gracias al apoyo de una docena de instituciones de primera importancia mexicanas, canadienses y ucranianas, entre otras.
The catalog of the exhibition The Front Line. Ukrainian Art, 2013-2019 " tells about the turbulent political and social situation in Ukraine over the past seven years, including events such as the Maidan protests, the annexation of Crimea and the war with Russia. It focuses on materials from the exhibition of 13 Ukrainian artists at the National Museum of Cultures in Mexico City from September 2019 to February 2020. This exhibition was part of a larger interdisciplinary project carried out in Mexico City that also included a series of round tables with the participation of Ukrainian, Mexican and British researchers and artists at the Museo Memoria y la Tolerancia and eight documentary screenings at the Cineteca Nacional. This trilingual publication (English-Spanish-Ukrainian) documents the first large-scale project in America Latina that analyzed the Ukrainian contemporary art scene and the situation in the country. The exhibition was also presented at the Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Center "Oseredok" in Winnipeg, Canada. Participating artists: Piotr Armianovski, Yevgenia Belorusets, Svitlana Biedarieva, Zhanna Kadyrova, Yuri Koval, Roman Mikhaylov, Roman Minin, Olia Mykhailiuk, Lada Nakonechna, Yevgen Nikiforov, Kristina Norman, Mykola Ridnyi from and works from the Initiatives Platform collection Cultural "Izolyatsia" (Daniel Buren, Leandro Erlich and Pascale Marthine Tayou), César Martínez Silva and Paola Paz Yee.
