Este libro revisa la obra de Marcos Ramírez ERRE, artista tijuanense reconocido a nivel internacional cuya práctica multidisciplinaria ha abordado el tema de la frontera durante casi tres décadas.
Con la exposición THEM AND US / ELLOS Y NOSOTROS, presentada en MASS MoCA (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Massachusetts) entre agosto de 2019 y octubre de 2021, esta publicación documenta la primera muestra individual del artista en la costa este de los Estados Unidos y analiza una selección de trabajos que exploran la condición transfronteriza y sus implicaciones sociopolíticas.
Organizada en nodos temáticos que examinan el trabajo de ERRE a través de sus relaciones con el Oficio, el Contexto, la Política y la Poética, esta compilación incluye lecturas de curadores, historiadores del arte y académicos, una biografía profunda e íntima del artista escrita por su hermano, el poeta y también artista Omar Pimienta. Equilibrando perspectivas de las ciencias sociales, la historia y la teoría del arte, este libro ilustra la importancia de ERRE para el arte mexicano y el campo a nivel internacional.
This book examines the work of Marcos Ramírez ERRE, internationally recognized artist from Tijuana whose multidisciplinary practice has engaged the subject of the border for nearly three decades. Featuring the exhibition "Them and Us / Ellos y Nosotros", presented at MASS MoCA between August 2019 and October 2021, this publication documents the artist's first solo show on the east coast of the United States, along with a selection of related works which address the cross-border condition and its social and political implications. Organized in thematic sections which examine ERRE's work through its relationships to Craftsmanship, Context, Politics, and Poetics, this compilation includes insights from curators, art historians, and academics, with an insightful and intimate biography of the artist written by his brother, the poet and also artist Omar Pimienta. Balancing perspectives informed by the social sciences, history and art theory, this book illustrates ERRE's importance to Mexican art and to the field internationally.
