Sojourner Truth (1797 - I883) nació en la esclavítud en los Estados Unidos. Luego de obtener su libertad en 1827, Sojourner se convírtió en una conocida oradora antiesclavista.
Su discurso “¿Acaso no soy una mujer?” fue pronunciado en la Convención de los Derechos de la Mujer en Akron, Ohio, el 29 de mayo de 1851. Originalmente no tenia titulo.
